Brand New Festival Website Launched

The CBA has unveiled a brand new website for the Festival of British Archaeology. It has been designed to make available information about this annual celebration of archaeology in a clear, attractive and easily accessible format for all users, whether they are members of the public, event organisers or media professionals.

Festival homepage Jousting at the Arthurian Center, Cornwall Launched to coincide with the 2009 event, which runs from Saturday 18th July – Sunday 2nd August, the website lists over 600 events taking place across the UK during the fortnight.

Events can be searched for by postcode, event type and date, allowing users to find events which suit their interests and location with ease. Detailed descriptions of events are given, with further contact details and booking information provided where appropriate. There is also a facility to sign up to Festival e-newsletters, to ensure that everyone can keep up-to-date with Festival news and developments throughout the year.

The website also contains information about the background to this event, which has grown from the popular National Archaeology Week, with facts and figures about how it has grown from its roots in 1990 to be the biggest yet UK-wide celebration of archaeology.

An organisers section gives event organisers all the information and downloadable promotional material they will need to help support their event(s) to ensure that they are able to attract as wide an audience as possible. The press section provides information and press releases for the media to ensure that they have the facts and support to cover the Festival to full effect in printed and broadcast media.

The Festival website will be regularly updated with new information and events in the run-up to, and during, the Festival.
