Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology

Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology 2011 Great Bowden Archaeological Tour 2008 Every year, as part of the CBA’s Festival of British Archaeology, Leicestershire’s Community Archaeologist co-ordinates the Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology. This is a chance for the people of Leicestershire and its surroundings to find out about the archaeology of Leicestershire, Rutland and Leicester with events, talks and guided tours.

Events are supported by:

  • Leicestershire County Council
  • Leicestershire Fieldworkers
  • Leicestershire Archaeological and Historical Society
  • University of Leicester School of Archaeology and Ancient History.

Leicestershire Fieldworkers has over 400 members countywide and is an umbrella group for those interested in active fieldwork co-ordinating a network of over 20 local groups across Leicestershire. It runs a lecture series and trips as well as training days. Visit their website.
