Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology
Every year, as part of the CBA’s Festival of British Archaeology, Leicestershire’s Community Archaeologist co-ordinates the Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology. This is a chance for the people of Leicestershire and its surroundings to find out about the archaeology of Leicestershire, Rutland and Leicester with events, talks and guided tours.
Events are supported by:
- Leicestershire County Council
- Leicestershire Fieldworkers
- Leicestershire Archaeological and Historical Society
- University of Leicester School of Archaeology and Ancient History.
Leicestershire Fieldworkers has over 400 members countywide and is an umbrella group for those interested in active fieldwork co-ordinating a network of over 20 local groups across Leicestershire. It runs a lecture series and trips as well as training days. Visit their website.
